Having seen his side lose 4-2 to Selangor in their Super League match on Saturday, T-Team boss Rahmad Darmawan blamed the defeat on his charges’ inadequate fitness level and the hosts’ effectiveness in front of the goal.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Rahmad said that his players’ fitness suffered in the second half, after finishing the first without scoring and conceding.
“In the first half my men’s fitness was okay, but in the second the fitness level of a number of them dropped. When they were counter-attacked they froze up, and Selangor would score.
“I changed things around by introducing two fresh players, it helped somewhat and we created chances,” explained the Indonesian trainer.
But according to Rahmad, they were ultimately undone by Selangor’s persistence and accuracy.
“Selangor were very effective tonight, they were patient, and waited for the right moments to launch into counter-attacks.
“And our slow transitions from attacking to defending deepened our woes,” Rahmad said.
In the match, Syahmi Safari opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, before Forkey Doe doubled the hosts’ lead just two minutes later. Dilshod Sharofetdinov pulled one back for T-Team in the 72nd minute, but the Red Giants pulled away through Rufino Segovia’s 82nd minute goal, and Syahmi’s second three minutes later. T-Team’s new signing Yannick N’Djeng scored his first for the Titans and their second of the night in the 88th minute.
