Rubio had already missed a large chunk of the 2014-15 season with a badly sprained left ankle in November. The injury occurred 10 days after he signed a four-year, $55-million contract with the Timberwolves.

In just 22 games this season, Rubio has averaged 10.3 points, 8.8 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 31.5 minutes per game. Seven of Minnesota’s 16 wins this season have come with Rubio on the floor.
