A Los Angeles police spokesman told the Orange County Register that McDonald is being charged with driving under the influence of a substance other than alcohol. It’s believed he possibly used medication or a narcotic.

Police said the vehicle driven by McDonald, 25, hit a parked car in Woodland Hills and that McDonald waited for police to arrive. When police questioned him at the scene, McDonald didn’t appear clear-headed, so police drove him to a nearby police station, where he was formally arrested about 8:30 a.m.
McDonald was released on $300 bail shortly after 6 p.m. He has a tentative court date of June 3, according to the Register.
McDonald, a third-round pick from the University of Southern California in 2013, has started 37 games for the Rams. He started 11 games for them last season, recording 63 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, before a December shoulder injury ended his season.

McDonald is just the latest Rams player to be involved in recent off-the-field incidents. Running back Tre Mason was arrested in Florida in March and faces misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, marijuana possession and reckless driving.
The Rams drafted former Western Kentucky tight end Tyler Higbee, who was arrested last month following a bar fight in Bowling Green, Ky. The Rams also signed a pair of troubled receivers on Tuesday.
The team brought in former Auburn receiver Duke Williams, who was dismissed from the Tigers last October following several off-field incidents, including a bar brawl. The Rams also signed former Patriots practice squad receiver J.J. Worton, who was arrested on assault charges in January. Worton was also arrested in 2012 while at Central Florida for punching a police officer.
