In an official press release by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC), Hayden admitted to being emotionally connected with the Australian side. It comes as no surprise, considering he was part of the Aussie cricketing set-up for a very long time.
But Hayden went on to claim that he has also established strong connections with the Pakistani players and support staff. The former Australia opener spoke about how he had been able to form a strong bond with the Pakistan squad in a short period of time.
The Babar Azam-led side have emerged as the team to beat in the multi-nation event. They have dazzled viewers with their superlative performances in the league stage of the competition. Pakistan will be keen to capitalize on their momentum and put up a strong showing in the upcoming knockout fixture as well.

Matthew Hayden also expressed regret that he was unable to tour Pakistan as a player. However, the cricketer-turned-coach is pleased at the prospect of the Australian team visiting Pakistan next year for a series.
He opined that the country has a set of passionate fans, who deserve to be treated to top-notch cricket. India are the only other team to enjoy such tremendous support, according to the Aussie legend. He said:
