Staff at the Belleville fast-food restaurant ducked for cover after Amy Gale, 19, allegedly started shooting at the drive-thru window on Sunday night.
Belleville Police Department (BPD) officers said Gale arrived at the Taco Bell drive-thru on Carlyle Avenue and placed an order.
Shortly afterward, she got into an argument with an employee at the window over her order.
The BPD said in a Facebook statement: “Witnesses stated there was a dispute over an order in the drive-thru of the business.
“A female customer at the drive-thru was reportedly unhappy with the service at the business and had a verbal argument with an employee at the drive-thru window.
“The female customer displayed a handgun and fired a shot through the drive-thru window. The female customer then drove around the business firing several more shots into the business.”
Belleville police said when officers arrived they checked the employees for injuries and found one had suffered minor scratches from flying glass. No other injuries were reported.
After the suspect’s vehicle was identified, it was found at a residence in the 2100 Block of East Belle Avenue. There, Gale was found and taken into custody.
Gale, of Belleville, was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Her bond has been set at $1 million and Belleville police said they are not looking for any other suspects in connection with the shooting.
In other fast-food shooting news, a woman was arrested in Ohio earlier this month after she reportedly fired multiple shots in the drive-thru lane of a Wendy’s when her order took too long to come.
According to WFLA, Tia Taylor, 37, was apprehended after she allegedly fired at least three gunshots in the fast-food lane on December 3.
Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer told the news outlet the incident stemmed from a complaint to staff over what she viewed as slow service.
He said: “From our understanding, she was upset with her order. She felt it was taking too long and she had some choice words for the staff, letting them know her order better be right.
“The manager heard her swearing at the staff members. He then told her she would not be served and to leave the lane. She was upset with that and she then fired three rounds.”
While none of the three bullets hit anyone, one of them did hit the restaurant sign.
