But then the third area appears and suddenly the standard Pathfinder player gets ripped apart. This all-too-common experience is because the character can start Tainted Grail: Conquest but needs to do a few things to finish off the run. Here’s how to make that a reality.
Get Some Barriers Up
The number one reason the Pathfinder manages to get smoked in later fights is due to a lack of blocks. Simply, even if players get very lucky and draw every block card in the deck, there are groups of five enemies that will each attack five times apiece. There are simply not enough block cards in existence to stop that kind of onslaught.
Using the Blacksmith, players can potentially find runes that will give them some barriers. Or perhaps they can find passives of cards that provide barriers as well. Either way, make it a priority to get some up. The Pathfinder’s damage increases every round it takes no damage, so it’s vital to success.
Don’t Feel Compelled To Use The Ultimate
Different classes will have different strengths and weaknesses. Some are tied to their ultimate ability so much that they are hard to use. The Pathfinder is unique in that the ultimate is mostly gratuitous. It’s not at all useless, but it should be used for emergencies, not regularly relied on.

At max charges, players draw a bunch of cards and get two energy. That’s a perfect safety blanket in case the drawn hand doesn’t have any block cards and it looks like there is a beating coming in. But don’t feel the need to use it unless this emergency situation comes up.
Low Energy Damage And Armor Reduction Are Ideal Cards
Gamers looking to farm up all of the currencies will want to be crushing enemies as fast as possible. The Pathfinder takes a while to charge up as the damage increases turn-by-turn. So how does the Pathfinder end killing an enemy fast? Armor reduction.
Use abilities that cost just a single point of energy since so many points are needed for blocking. The cards that reduce armor can give the Pathfinder the single highest hit in the game after a certain number of rounds, so this works for small and big opponents alike.
Level 10 - Perseverance
When the ultimate ability is used with at least twelve charges, drawn cards have their energy costs reduced by one
There are two other offerings for the Pathfinder at level ten. Using the ultimate with nine or more charges adds three blocks, but barriers have taken care of that deficiency in this build. Wisdom only exacerbates the problem by drawing more cards but not adding the required energy to play those cards.

Perseverance allows the Pathfinder to pick up a fat stack of cards and, if they’ve stuck with the advice of getting cheap energy cards, then all of them will be free to use right then and there. This is a gamer-changer and a battle-ender against even the toughest bosses.
Level 20 - Ambush
Additional cards drawn reduce all enemy armor by five
There really is very little debate over what the best mastery at level twenty is. Stances creating an initial charge might be helpful for those who use the ultimate frequently, but that’s unnecessary and dangerous. Doubling energy gain from the ultimate is good in some situations, but not when these cards are free with the level ten mastery already.
Instead, reduce enemy armor by five with every additional card drawn. The combination of an enemy’s reduced armor and the Pathfinder’s additional damage gives this class spice, as well as the chance to hit for regular four-digit numbers with simple one energy cost cards.
