Just one day after being called out by Rose for an apparent lack of toughness, Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson silenced the controversial Reds legend in his first at-bat, lifting a solo home run in the first inning of Game 2 of the ALDS on Friday.

Rose, a postseason analyst for FOX, criticized Donaldson after Game 1 for leaving the game early after taking a knee to the head in the middle of Toronto’s 5-3 loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
“Does everybody know what we’re playing for now? I mean, you get a tweak and you have to leave the game?” Rose said. “You get a knee on the head with a helmet on and you gotta leave the game to go take a test that you passed, I mean because you’re a little light-headed? I got light-headed how many times in my career? I still went out there and played.”
Whether you think Donaldson lacked toughness or took the appropriate precautionary measures, he’s still an important part of the Blue Jays’ lineup. The MVP candidate’s blast cut Toronto’s deficit to 2-1.
