In 2016, Rockstar and Take-Two filed trademarks for a project titled Judas. Many fans thought that Judas would be Rockstar’s first project after Grand Theft Auto 5 but no new information about the project surfaced after the initial leak. But now, Take-Two has renewed their copyright for Judas, creating more questions from fans.

In its new trademark filing to the US Patent and Trademark Office from May 11, 2020, Take-Two renewed its claim to the Judas title for video games, films, and music. The publisher also still owns the judasthegame.com domain through 2022. Outside of these details from the copyright listing, both Take-Two and Rockstar have stayed silent.

It is important to note that both Take-Two and Rockstar have not confirmed any details about Judas but when this news hit Reddit, fans began wondering what this leak meant. Some wondered if the Judas project confirmed rumors that Rockstar would be working on a historical game, while others thought that Judas was a codename for Grand Theft Auto 6 because of Trevor’s references to the Apostle. This leak also comes on the heels of rumors surrounding an official Grand Theft Auto 6 announcement.

More responders chimed in with previous statements from GTA leakers to corroborate their arguments. Specifically, they cited the leaker Yen, who said the sixth Grand Theft Auto entry was already 60-70% complete. However, many pointed out that the trademarks didn’t have too much significance. For example, one Reddit user pointed out that Rockstar already had trademarks for GTA 6 through 9 with webpages.

Hyped fans will likely have to wait some time for more information about Rockstar’s future projects. Previous Rockstar projects like the spy game Agent have gone ages without any word from the developer, and many end up canceled. However, the developer is still pumping out regular content for fans in need of entertainment.
