Britain benefits from English, the language of global business, as well as the $460 billion in investment that flows between it and the United States. Two years ago the British government also made a conscious decision to entice talented, entrepreneurial types to live in Britain without forcing them to find employment first. Young professionals from places like India and America are now filling jobs in financial services and technology and starting their own busi-nesses. British universities are also pitching harder for top students. At places like the London Business School, foreigners outnumber British students, and many stay after graduation. If this trend is any indication, Britain’s place in the global economy will be ensured.
