While its original intention was to write messages and receive them for in-game events, the bulletin board in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has proven to be a good home for imagery created by artistic players. It also highlights a feature in the game that many players might have ignored despite its creative potential.

Reddit user taotaodeli recently shared an image showing off a piece of art featuring the villager posing with iconic Disney character Stitch. The two stand together smiling, posing like they are taking a selfie in front of what looks to be the castle in Magic Kingdom while fireworks explode behind them. Adding onto the photo aesthetic is the inclusion of a timestamp in the upper left corner, but they get automatically included in bulletin board posts. It’s an adorable piece with the villager dressed as a princess and the pastel colors making the image pop, capturing the whimsical magic many find in both properties.
The crossover is not the first time taotaodeli posted fan art created by using the bulletin board. They had recently posted another piece showing the villager Sasha building a snow bunny in a similarly adorable style. Much like that work, this one has garnered a lot of attention on the Animal Crossing subreddit, with about 5,000 upvotes at the time of writing and many remarking on how cute the piece is. One commenter remarked that it reminded them of the Game Boy camera and said that it would make for a cool sticker. Another asked taotaodeli how they were able to not run out of ink, and they revealed that since all 3 pen sizes use the same amount of ink, they used the largest size to color in large areas and shared that drawing in straight lines reduces ink usage when compared to freehand lines.
Despite updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons becoming more infrequent and major content updates no longer coming to the game, fans like taotaodeli keep the game alive with inventive ways to take advantage of the options given to players. While these pieces take hours to complete, with taotaodeli stating that this latest one took about 4 hours to finish, the effort is well worth the result.
