Both young lads making the headlines as “Tamil Nadu boy cracks NEET” have more in common than many might have realised. Interestingly, coming from humble backgrounds, both have faced many struggles on their way.
M. Sakthivel and Jeevith Kumar have cleared their NEET exam with 674/720 and 664/720 marks respectively in their NEET 2020 examination. It was a second attempt for both as they could not clear the exam last year in the absence of proper coaching and guidance due to financial difficulties.
M. Sakthivel – Tamil Nadu Boy Who Refused To Take Coaching
M. Sakthivel hailing from Guruvarajapet in Ranipet district shared that he completed his Class XII in the 2019 with 588 marks but could only manage to score 358 marks in his NEET Entrance. His father works in a weaving unit while his mother works as a tailor. He shared how his parents ensured good education for all their children despite hardships.

He recalled that last year, he knew he will not get a medical seat and the family could not afford the admission fees for a private college. So, he decided to study hard and appear for the exams once again this year. He further added that many advised him to join the coaching institute but he refused because of the family’s financial state. He went on to share that he would refer to social media whenever he had doubts and used the National Test Abhyas App for practicing mock tests.
Jeevith Kumar clears NEET but lacks finances to study medicine
Jeevith Kumar has topped among all candidates from state’s government schools who had appeared in NEET 2020. His father is a shepherd while mother is a tailor. Sadly, while he has successfully cracked the medical entrance in hgis second attempt this year, Kumar has no means to pay for his college fee.
Last year, he had failed to crack the NEET exam last year despite a great score in his Class XII. Seeing his potential, R Sabarimala, a teacher-turned-activist posted a video appealing for financial help. Soon, a man from US came forward to help with his coaching institute’s fees.
