Major provisions of the new state law banning online gaming

The recently passed ordinance bans all forms of online bets and wagers involving smartphones, PCs or any other such electronic devices. It will also be prohibiting electronic transfer of funds for placing bets, distributing online game winnings or any other prize money related to online gaming or gambling in the state.

New law will enforce a fine of up to Rs. 5,000 and imprisonment sentence of up to six months on all persons found gaming online in the South Indian state. Furthermore, any individuals who may open new online gaming houses or keep their existing ones open will be sentenced with an imprisonment of up to two years and Rs. 10,000.

It is also worth noting that the South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments have also banned online gambling and selectonline card games in their respective states.
