Still, North Carolina vs. NC State fuels the fire in the Tar Heel State.

On Saturday, the Tar Heels won their second consecutive game in the rivalry—the teams have identical 3-5 records—and their celebration rubbed the Wolfpack the wrong way.
NC State had a new logo painted at midfield and some of the Tar Heel players “visited” the logo after the game. Kareem Martin said the dancing at the logo was an impromptu move by some of the seniors.
“With it being my last time, I just solidified a lifetime worth of bragging rights against any N.C. State fan or player,” Martin said of some players stomping on the logo and dancing.
The logo also came under attack. It was being compared to East Carolina's logo that has been around for years.
UNC tight end Eric Ebron told reporters of the NC State logo, “Beautiful. Looks just like ECU, don’t it?” It’s only right that Ebron shows some respect for the ECU logo—the Tar Heels lost at home to the Pirates earlier this season, 55-31.
First-year Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren said he won’t forget what the UNC players did.
“We are going to remember what they did on the 50-yard line … for 364 days,” he said after the game. “We will look forward to playing them next year.”
