Excitement for the game is at an all-time high, with new gameplay footage, screenshots, and details being released nearly every week leading up to the release of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. While fans can pre-load the game digitally on their Nintendo Switch ahead of time, they can also pre-order or purchase a physical copy from various in-person retailers for the chance to potentially receive a bonus. Now, Target has revealed its own purchase bonus for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.

While pre-orders for the game in the UK include select Super Mario 3D World-themed plushes, and pre-orders in South Korea offer a limited edition steelbook, most pre-order and purchase bonuses overseas have been rather scarce. Target has announced it is offering fans a free Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury-themed reusable water bottle when purchasing the game, similar to another Target pre-order bonus for New Pokemon Snap.
In a Tweet made by Target, the retailer specifies it is offering the purchase bonus specifically in stores on the game’s release date, February 12. The bonus also doesn’t seem to be limited to pre-orders, so those who didn’t get a chance to pre-order Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury from Target may still be able to net themselves a water bottle. The retailer notes that this offer is only available while supplies last, and fans should check to see whether their local Target store is participating in the promotion.
Another pre-order bonus for the upcoming game includes a free double-sided poster when fans pick up their copy in-person from GameStop. While offering steelbook pre-order bonuses for games like Persona 5 Strikers, Best Buy also offers fans the option to pay about $2 extra when pre-ordering Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury to receive a Cat Mario phone and tech badge. The badge can also be purchased separately.
The 35th anniversary for Super Mario Bros. took place last year, but celebrations have continued well into 2021. While Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. 35 will be discontinued by the end of March 2021, it will be interesting to see if Nintendo has any more surprise celebrations up their sleeve.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury releases February 12 for the Nintendo Switch.
